The 185cc Vortec Bow-Tie is absolutly the best "under 200cc intake runner head" on the market.

It is excellent for Cirlce Track, Street, Drag Racing and Boats. 

With our CNC Sportsman Porting or "UnderCover Porting", the 185 cc head will support engines making over 540 horsepower with awesome torque.  

The Vortec Bow-Tie heads are beefed-up Vortec passanger car heads with a thicker deck, both center-bolt and outside valve cover bolt patterns and the Vortec and conventional intake manifold bolt patterns.  They are available with 185cc or 213cc intake ports and have straight plugs. 

The stock 185cc head flows 234 cfm intake and 164 on the exhaust. With our “UnderCover Porting”, the intake flow improves to 252 cfm and the exhaust will reach 184 cfm.

The 213cc head flows 266 cfm intake and 164 cfm exhaust in stock form. With our “UnderCover Porting”, the air flow will improve to 286 cfm intake and 192 cfm exhaust.

All complete full race prepared Vortec Bow-Tie heads have ARP rocker studs, guide plates, hardened spring locators, Ferrea valves, Isky springs, chrome moly retainers & locks.

The castings are pressure tested, valve guides are honed and a flow bench developed Serdi valve job specifically designed for the Vortec Bow-Tie head is performed.

Intake manifolds for Vortec Bow-Tie heads.

Cast Iron intakes:  Because of the taller intake port design on the Vortec Bow-Tie heads, our #201V-M & #401V-M Vortec Marine intakes are the only cast iron intake manifolds that will fit these heads.  The passenger car intakes - Chevrolet 2 barrel & Q-Jet style - do not have enough material on top of the intake port to seal the intake gasket. 

Aluminum intakes:  Currently, there is not an aluminum intake manifold specifically designed for Vortec Bow-Tie heads.  Depending on track rules and requirements, we have used a variety of Edelbrock intake manifolds ranging from the #7101 RPM Performer to the #2925 Super Victor.  In each case with this new head, it is critical that the intake manifold properly fits the heads.

After the heads are surfaced to the required cc's, we will bolt the heads onto a block.  The intake manifold is then checked and machined for both correct port alignment to the head ports and proper mechanical fit to the heads. Fitting the intake manifold to the heads is included at no additional charge with all of our head/intake manifold combinations.
